our story.

 

we are two friends from switzerland who met on christmas eve 2022 in nicaragua at the guesthouse amahula while both solo traveling through central america. sharing a surfboard named betty, we instantly hit it off and decided to continue our journey together for the next six months, joined by two new friends and our adopted travel companion, a street dog named felicitas.

we’d each dreamed of opening our own café one day, and once we shared this with one another, we started manifesting and collecting ideas for a café in zurich, switzerland, where we both lived at the time. before long, however, we realized we wanted to combine our dream with our passion for travel.

 

in early 2024, we found ourselves traveling again, this time in sri lanka. we fell deeply in love with the kind people, stunning coastline, and fantastic surfing. we felt at home. we weren’t initially looking to put down roots in sri lanka, but one thing led to another, and it just felt so right for our dream to take shape here. this is where the name serendipity comes from. 

 

we can't wait to warmly welcome you into our guesthouse and café, a place for speciality coffee, joyful conversations and to just simply be.
